The Society for the Advancement of Behavioral Economics (SABE) held its annual conference in Northern Nevada, following a pre-conference workshop at the University of Nevada, Reno. Ten doctorate students from the University’s College of Business helped deliver the conference and workshop programs, which provided an opportunity to meet, interact with, and learn from some of the best scholars in behavioral and experimental economics. “Making connections with other scholars in your field is one of the most important things you can do as a Ph.D. student to develop yourself,” Mark Pingle, professor of entrepreneurship and economics, said. “Our students are getting nearly one week of doing that through this conference.” SABE 2022 was held at Bally’s South Lake Tahoe from Aug. 8-11 following a workshop held on the University campus Aug. 7-8. One hundred and fifteen scholars from 22 countries attended the event. The pre-conference workshop involved 20 doctorate students or assistant professors from 10 countries around the world, including students from Harvard University, Stanford University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the University of Chicago. The pre-conference workshop allowed doctorate students and assistant professors to present their research, make professional connections and explore the city of Reno and the University campus. Presentations from the conference covered a wide array of topics, such as the impact of COVID-19 on economic behavior, the impact of cultural differences in socio-economic behavior and status and how personality affects investment choices.
